A Noun Phrase (NP) is a group of words that functions as a noun in a sentence. It can be a single word, like a noun or a pronoun, or it can be a group of words built around a main noun, called the head noun (ମୁଖ୍ୟ ବିଶେଷ୍ୟ). These additional words add more meaning to the head noun. For example, in the sentence "Coconut is a tall tree," a tall tree is a Noun Phrase. Similarly, many beautiful flowers and the black dog are also Noun Phrases. Sometimes, single nouns like houses or pronouns like they can also be Noun Phrases.
Core Elements of a Noun Phrase

The basic structure of many Noun Phrases involves three main elements: a Determiner, an Adjective, and a Head Noun. Consider the Noun Phrase the poor man. Here, man is the head noun. poor is an adjective (ବିଶେଷଣ) that describes the quality of the man, and the is a determiner (ନିର୍ଦ୍ଧାରକ) that specifies which man. The order of these elements is crucial:
Pre-modifiers and Post-modifiers
ଓଡ଼ିଆ: Noun Phrase ରେ Head Noun ପୂର୍ବରୁ ଆସୁଥିବା ଶବ୍ଦଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ Pre-modifier ଏବଂ ପରେ ଆସୁଥିବା ଶବ୍ଦଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ Post-modifier କୁହାଯାଏ।
Words that come before the head noun are called Pre-modifiers (ପୂର୍ବ-ସଂଶୋଧକ), and words that come after the head noun are called Post-modifiers (ପର-ସଂଶୋଧକ). Both types of modifiers add extra meaning to the head noun. A Noun Phrase can have:
